Has the mechanic ripped me off?
I'm a 17 year old female and I just had my 97 astra serviced at my local mobil mechanic. I was originally told a major service on the car would cost $170 but then when i picked it up I was given a bill for $1060. The mechanic called me to say that the car would need a new air filter, a change of brake fluid and a change of power steering fluid which I agreed too, (knowing that this would be some at extra cost) However he did not quote any estimate at the time. The invoice states the following:
EFI Major Service - 4 CYL $169.00
Engine Protection - $44.00
Change Brake Fluid - $66.00
Cooling System Service - $110.00
Throttle Body Service - $66.00
Replace Air and Fuel Filter - $70.00
Automatic Service and System Flush - $240.00
Power Steering Fluid Flush - $120.00
Injector Service - $175.00
Am I correct in assuming that I should have been told the total would come up around the thousand dollar mark and informed of the extra services before they were carried out?
That is horrible, get your father or somebody to go with you to pick it up.
It looks like they are charging you for something two or three times.
The price for a trans flush is $99 lots of places.
