Front Radiator Tank
1987 Saab 900 S Leaking Coolant. GET A NEW RADIATOR? PUT NEW TUBES? HELP!?
i have a 1987 saab 900 s. its been giving me troubles with coolant leaking recently.
A week ago, it leaked and there was no coolant at all so i went to walmart and bought a gallon of coolant and a bottle of stop leak bottle.
put them in and did work for few days, and today, i had no heater, thermo stat was hitting on HIGH.
and checked the coolant tank and no sign of coolant at all.
it used to leak from the front left wheel area where the 'mud guard' is located. now it doesn't leak from there.
i know that coolant leak has many supplemental causes to it.
ANY IDEAS WHY? IT'S WINTER AND I HAVE NO HEATER!
IS IT BETTER TO TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP? OR BUY A NEW RADIATOR AND INSTALL IT MYSELF?

Take it to a shop. This may not be the radiator. It could be among other things, bad hose, bad fan switch causing it get so hot it leaks from the overflow, a freeze plug, a bad fitting, a bad water pump, a bad head gasket, a bad radiator cap, stc. Have a pro look at it.
