volvo/penta output shafts, can it be retro fitted to a merc?
wondering if i should buy a older boat with the omc output. how often do they need rebuilding, or could they be retrofitted with a more modern output, and is that even realistic to do??
Older boat...ok, OMC walk away, better just dont!
The omc or "stringers" can be a pain in the ass, also to find parts if needed. (sure you need some)
The omc transom cut out is way bigger than Volvo and Merc. also the engine mounting inside the boat is different, It can be retrofit but you have to (re) build a new transom.
Look for Volvo P or better... Mercruiser as these all have Power-Trim !!(exept the verry older versions)
